Guarana has been used and revered by the American Indians who inhabited the Amazon rainforest from thousands of years ago, the Spaniards to colonize this part of South America began to use it as a tonic and to relieve diarrhea and headaches.
Guarana as all drinks that have caffeine is a stimulant of the central nervous system, with the peculiarity that due to the presence of tannins in its wide real-time composition the stimulating effect of the drink.
Traditionally it has been used by its anti-diarrhoeal activity, for the improvement of memory and as hypoglycemic, nowadays it is used in combination with other medicinal plants as an adjunct in the treatment of overweight due to its content caffeine and the presence of essential fatty acids.
